Just done a sump only oil change on the CLK (filter was only 16k old) . I made sure the drain pan was clean , so the small particles are definitely from the ATF oil .
Checking with a magnet they appear non metallic and crush with a finger nail .
I'll take a picture shortly but don't know if it will help .
Anyone any experience of this ?
The car has 73k on it with 2 oil and filter changes in that mileage .

Non metallic, crushable, could this be friction material from one of the clutches?

Normal wear and tear. Would have thought these bits would have been picked up in the filter.
As said - poss friction material.
No worries Wighty - it'll last for at least another 400 or 500 miles.

That's very reassuring thanks , I may bring the next filter change in early though . Normally I wouldn't even look at the old oil .
Maybe now I'll stop looking :D

Hi Wighty, well I've just checked/dipped my auto box and level was good, but the colour was very dark indeed, so she will benefit from new oil in there.

As I'm in the middle of France there's not a lots of suppliers of Mercedes specific autobox oil readily available, but there's loads of ATF Dexron 111, any any thoughts about using this stuff. It's just hydraulic fluid when all is said and done?

Panic is over buddy :D . I had the w & t as wear and tear , the d and p had me stumped
You are not alone Buddy.. Has me stumped too ..... I don't know what the particles are, but would be more worried if they were metallic and stuck on the magnet. Has to be from the clutch pack's I guess ( but I'm no expert on it either....yet !!! ) Good Luck in any case..

Sorry buddy , I didn't know stuff was so sparse there :D . Opie oils has a good website which details what oils meet what specification .
Any chance of getting a UK relative to stock up for you then send 1 parcel to you ?

Thanks for that mate, just order some. Looking forward to getting rid of the old oil !!!!!
If you're going to do a complete flush of the TC, cooler and lines you can get a kit with the sump gasket, bolts, washer, filter, pilot bushing (electric connector) and even the little red locking tab for the "dip stick" hole bung. it's at least worth getting this filter and gasket. https://www.auto-doc.fr/febi-bilstein/1886347
In France I've found Oscaro, Web deal Auto very good as well, price and delivery wise.
Buy soon before the £ reaches 90p to the €!!!!!!
