I have just been playing (as one does) with the car configurator on the M-B website, building an E400d estate that might tickle my fancy. Only... it didn't.
I thought I would stick with the regular model rather than the All-Terrain and see what choices I could have. It was pretty fabulously equipped as standard, but I could add the 'Driver Assistance Package' for £1695 - seemed like a good idea. Everything else equipment-wise was included really.
But the disappointments came when it transpired that you can't order AirBody Control (airmatic) - at all.
The next disappointment was that there was no choice of interior - black artico & microfibre was all you could have. No real leather. No colour choice at all.
No wonder I can't see any of these on the secondhand market with light interiors. MB won't sell you one.
You can have a choice of interiors in the All-Terrain model bizarrely.
Such a shame - and something that may force us to look at All-Terrains (even though I don't care for the faux body protectors) or a BMW or the like when it comes to time to change our workhorse.
