is it posible different wheel thread type in a 4wd vito w639 to cause problems in differentials?

hi, I am owner of a Vito w639 cdi116 4x4 2012, ready to change tyres. I know that I cannot put different profiles in front and rear due to 4x4, but my question is if I can use the same profile 205/65/16 but different thread, like summer tyres in the front and four season tyre in the back, so I can have better traction if needed in mud or off road terrens, and also good bracking and steering in the front in regular asphalt roads. I drive the car in the island of Crete in Greece, where we have 9 months temperatures 18C-35C and 3 months 0-18C. Is it possible that the 4wd system will be damaged if the tyres will not have the same thread in front and rear?

Hello and welcome

Just need the same overall diameter. Having a more grippy tyre in the rear axle is fine (and much better than having better grip on the front)
Different tread and compounds front and rear won’t be a problem

I am thinking to use continental vancontact 200 summer tyre in the front, for better braking, and vancontact 4season in the rear for better grip if i need to move off road or snow, all of them 205-65-16

Put a tape measure around the circumference of the tread. If all tyres are with 5% then no problem.

Whilst I undertand why you want to do this, be careful - you will likely have less traction on the back during braking (and turning) on the road, and could easily find the back of your van in front of you!
