Hi,
I changed engine mounts with MB OE ones 3 years ago and have driven 50k (km) since then. The mechanic highlighted that they are due for change. Is it normal wear or should I try some other brand's mounts this time around.

Thanks in advance.

I'd stick with OE personally. The quality of some aftermarket mounts is questionable.
If you must buy a different brand, I'd look for Lemforder.

Looking at your location your roads might be the same as we have in the U.K. (awful) so whilst your mileage since they were last changed isn’t a great deal it is probably the driving conditions that has worn them out.

Agreed, I regularly drive on a road that rigid 8 wheelers have used for 12 months transporting rock. Most of he manholes have sunk over 3”. I’d not want to drive it with big alloys and no sidewalls...

Engine/transmission mounts on my 05 80K miles are original, MB quality still dropping just like poor quality springs?

I have had about 4 sets in 170K on my ML270. Pathetic quality - tried both genuine and aftermarket and little if any difference. Compared to Japanese vehicles, they are cr@p. I have had many Jap vehicles that have done well in excess of 100K with no need to change them at all. Inexcusable really.

Thanks Guys for your replies and thoughts. The road conditions aren't great but I try to drive with care wherever I can.

Reading your posts, it seems to be a common issue so I'll try Lemforder mounts for a change as they'll be cheaper then MB ones and report back.

I changed Transmission mount as well 3 years ago, you guys reckon I changed it with engine mounts as well?
