Remapping overide??

Hi,

Having spent £500 having my car re-mapped by GAD. Has it been wiped out by a £30 software up-grade when serviced by MBS? If the answer is yes, then my-bad for not telling MBS. Maybe Cole can say??

A software upgrade would not normally overwrite an engine ECU update, though someone from MBS would be able to confirm which software they actually updated.

A quick phone call would resolve this easily.

I would have thought it extremely unlikely Any updates would surely be only patch not a total re-set and update.

Hi, Daveenty and AJD, that was my thought, but as you suggest a phone call would probably cofirm - or - I could take it into the countryside and "road test" it which could be moree fun

If you can't tell by driving the car whether the £500 remap has been wiped or not, then it doesn't say much for GAD's remap, does it?

GAD Re-Maps are superb, make a massive difference

Agree completely - hence my comment above.
Even the shortest drive should confirm whether or not the remap has been wiped.

Driving the less than 2 mile trip to work on the crowded streets of Portsmouth, you would be hard pressed to tell a mapped car from an unmapped one. Having just come from a quick blast to Fareham and back, I'm more than satisfied that all is well

This happened to our GAD remap this week. The software update was only set to do the gearbox, but the wonderful Star computer automatically reverted the engine mapping to standard without giving any option. Not GAD's fault at all - down to the MB Star system.

If the engine control module is updated, it will wipe out any re-map applied.

The map will need to be updated from the current version and re-written, then re-flashed to the car.
