In my opinion it is worth draining, refilling and giving it a try first. My only caveat with that is the om651 high pressure pumps do not seem as tolerant of petrol contamination as the older design of pump fitted to om646 and the like. I have seen pumps destroyed on these by misfuelling along with the same type of recent pump fitted to BMW and VW. If the pump has gone you will be replacing it, all injectors, both ends of the fuel rail, filter and having a proper clean of the tank and all fuel lines. No half measures. Its gonna be a big bill, so nothing to lose by trying a drain and refill first

Misuelling not covered unfortunately

Oh dear, I chose a policy which had that and free replacement key cover which I've yet to try.

The policy wording doesn't explicitly exclude Mercedes and Mercedes want £300 because the spare can't simply be be recoded (£100) which is why I got £300 off the screen price because I was warned that a contract is a contract and once signed I can't go back on it.

Replacement key was on the contract. Before they found out it would cost them £300. £300 knocked off the price, contract being a contract and all ;)

Plus a few other discounts for defect work needed. They paid for the parts and there was a warranty claim, I paid for the labour aspect at MBS so I knew the work was actually done and done correctly.

Mark in Brum is a bit of a round trip so I'm going to try it on with the ins co. first.

Spare opens the car but won't start the car which saved my bacon when I locked my only key in the boot without the rest of the car being unlocked.

It'll be an instant no over the phone until I start asking them to point me to the exclusions, in writing. Man needs a hobby and mine seems to be battling customer services at the moment.

Had this happen with a 10 plate sprinter, drove it half a mile and it started spluttering and returned to filling station. Asked the filling station attendant for misfuelling company recommendation and all sorted within two hours. I would have the car taken to either your house or a local independent poss AMF for draining and refilling, incidentally the sprinter was fine no probs and I know this because it was our own vehicle

I would have thought very little petrol would have got through to the engine in just a miles driving. Would it not have been running mostly on the diesel already in the lines and the fuel filter?
