I want to change my standard 16" wheels for 17" wheels.
I have been offered a set of 17" Mercedes AMG wheels, 5 x 112 PCD, 7.5J with an offset of ET47.
Does anyone know where I can find out if this is ok for my car.
I assume an ET that varies by say, just a couple of millimetres, would still be ok.
Where can I find out what the original ET was for my car using the standard 16" wheels.

A W211 has

8.5 x 17" ET 38 or 8 x 17" ET38 fitted with 245/45 R17 98Y tyres as standard

A 7.5 x 17" ET47 will not take the correct size tyre as it is too wide and will sit way too far in the arch.

I would think they come off an A class or such

Hello
Thank you very much for an informative reply.
I will ask the seller what model of Mercedes they come from but from the information on ET's and width you have provided I think I will not be buying the wheels.
Regards
James

Two 16" wheels listed for your car according to this:

https://www.wheel-size.com/size/mercedes/e-class/2004/#trim-e-270-cdi-eudm-174

Both have different offsets , 42 + 36mm.

What ones are fitted to your car ?

The offset will also be stamped on the inside of the wheel , normally on one of the spokes.

Hello KennyN
Thank you for your response and for the link to the data on wheel sizes ... very much appreciated.
Looks like if I change up to 17" wheels I can fit tyres of 225/45 on these new 8.5J x 17" rims but it says the offset needs to be ET38.
Wheels I've been offered have ET 47 so I am now doubting they will be o.k. for my car.
Thanks again.
James

I wouldn't buy them, they are too narrow and have the wrong offset, I would look for a set off a W211 and put those on

This is a good wheel for the car

NO, you should use a 245/45 R17" tyre, a 225/45 is 2.7% smaller and will mess with the gearing and Speedo.
