Hi ! I will not be using my GLA for about 3 to 4 months and worried that the alarm will activate once the battery level has dropped to a very low level (as happened to a previous non Mercedes car).

If this is the case, would it be better to deactivate the alarm while car is not in use for this extended period ?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Keith.

Could you not connect it up to a battery conditioner or perhaps disconnect the battery until you use it again.

It shouldn’t do. The alarm will have its own battery but that might just go flat. Lock the car with the key.

I disconnected my battery and the alarm went off !
I would therefore assume yours would go off once the battery gets to a low state and you would have to turn the alarm off before disconnecting the battery.

I think as o p said a drip feed charger
Very low v and that keeps every right for when you go back to use it.
Also if you are about would you not need to start and shift a few time just to avoid break seizures etc.

Thanks for that !

I am considering to disconnect the battery, as unable to connect a mains operated trickle charger.

Is this likely to affect the engine management systems if disconnected for up to 3 months ?

Thanks !

Solar powered chargers work well, even in our lack of sunlight winter.

Just wire it direct to the battery (or OBD port) as the 12v socket disconnects when the key is out

I put one (Amazon AA Branded) in my Smart when I wasn’t using it very much. Battery was getting sluggish but the charger made a huge difference. It’s still on its original battery now :)

Thanks again Blobcat ! I have just checked on Amazon and this AA Branded Solar Charger looks ideal. I guess it works on a 2018 GLA with a "Stop Start" Battery ?????

Thanks once again Blobcat !! I have read the spec for the AA Branded Solar Powered Battery Charger on Amazon and now believe this is the solution for me. I realise that the SP Charger is only designed to maintain the charge on a rarely used battery and will NOT charge a flat battery as this will necessitate the use of a "traditional" mains powered battery charger. Will now go ahead and order on Amazon. Thanks all for giving me a solution. Very grateful to you all !!

Hi all !

I have a 2018 GLA200 and am wondering whether the alarm will activate if the battery reaches a very low level of charge.

I hope to mitigate this during an upcoming extended period of non-use by plugging in a solar powered battery charger to the OBD plug, to off-set any natural discharge.

I also assume that the alarm is powered by the main battery and not a separate battery.

Thanks for any advice on this matter which is much appreciated !

Me -2019 GLC 350 coupe AMG line. Mrs- ford kuga 65 plate awd powershift .
Solar powered chargers work well, even in our lack of sunlight winter.

Just wire it direct to the battery (or OBD port) as the 12v socket disconnects when the key is out

It stays live if you move the fuse . Theres 2 slots for it. Was on my w211 anyways.
