A real rust doctor like you fully equipped and said "I’ll have to spray the Dinitrol over something else rusty" would obviously offer his services there and you did say it was a cheap job

Stroke of luck perhaps.
Sent off photos this morning to dealer that I get my car serviced at, merely to query how the corrosion was not noticed at last service.
As it had full service history and is only just outside of a 10year corrosion warranty, Mercedes say they will cover the cost of a replacement sub-frame.. Woo-hoo.

Good to hear really pleased for you the bill would have ££££s, shouldn’t happen on a modern vehicle, 2009 was early production so let’s hope that was the reason

Filled up with diesel and headed off on a 250 mile journey. About 1 mile in, pressed the brakes going round a bend and the car nose dived towards the hedge on the near side. Happened every time I pressed the brakes, so had to nurse the car home, and get mechanic to trailer it away, while I made other arrangements. He sent me some photos of the problem.

It appears the rear subframe no longer wants to be part of the car anymore.
Is this common for the subframe to corrode so badly?
Ps. Only 80k on the car.

Hi I have a 2012 E220d just 8 and half years old .it has just failed it's MOT for a corrosive rear sub frame 75,000 miles ..I think is a major issue as some mb dealers have repaired them free of charge. Mercedes owners are asking for a recall..

Here in Ireland, we don't seem to suffer the sub frame problem to the same extent...maybe its due to winter salt fritting of the roads??? ( OMG...just realised that my 2014 E class began its life in the North......
