Hi everyone.

Iv just bought a CLK 280 2007. I absolutely love it!!!

Before hand I thought the car had built in mobile phone hands free. Later I realised you have to have the correct phone to go into the cradle. I have researched and found you can get a Bluetooth device to plug into it then link up via Bluetooth.

2 questions really.

1. Do they work ok and does anyone have any experience with them.

2. If so does anyone know where I can buy one for less than £200? Seems a little excessive

Thanks guys

Hello and welcome

The Bluetooth cradle works well, (had one in my W211). They do come up on eBay but they are popular

First contact comandonline.co.uk with your VIN so they can look up the build sheet for your car. They will then advise you which of the many cradles you need to achieve what you want. For example, if your car has Comand you should be able to bluetooth your phone direct to Comand without needing a cradle, but the functions are limited and that way does not use the car antenna so signal can be variable. If like me youhave a phone that does not support remote SIM (mine is a Samsung Galaxy A10) it's the only option though.

I looked into that I think it was the year after mine that they brought the Bluetooth into the Comand. Mine just has the phone jack in the arm rest

Cheap and easy option is to buy a Bluetooth adapter and plug it into your auxiliary which I imagine is in your glove box, this could be hard wired into the 12v socket. Then any audio from your mobile will come through the cars speakers.

But to do that wouldn’t the Bluetooth adapter have to have the correct connection on it that’s in my arm rest?

What you have there is a UHI connector for a phone specific cradle or a bluetooth adapter, same as I have in my S204. I have a cradle for an iPhone 4/4s that I used to use before I changed to a Samsung Galaxy A10, unfortunately none of the available cradles or adapters are suitable for my phone but as I have Comand NTG4 the phone bluetooths direct to the Comand, only downside being that it uses the phone antenna rather than the car, so signal quality is variable and not as good as when I had the iPhone 4 in the cradle. However, it all works, including mthe steering wheel controls.

Depending on your phone, there may be a specific cradle available, or an HFP or SAP4 adapter may work - give Mark or Richard a call at comand.co.uk. Hopefully they'll say HFP, as pairing to a SAP adapter is, in Mark's own words, a major PITA!!

Hello and welcome!

Just a note to say that the functionality via that connection will be for telephony only.

Open to correction but it won't supply music to the sound system.

For music you will need something like this, provided you have an aux input in the car.

I have one sitting at home for the SL, but not tried it yet as car is not back from storage. Anker are a good brand though.
