My 'ECO' light stays on yellow and the engine is not 'stopping' at lights/junctions etc.
I am led to believe it may be the battery not being in tip top condition. (7 years old).
If I do have to buy a new battery, any recommendations?
I know the 'stop/start' batteries are expensive, so any help in locating one at a decent price would be appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation.

On the 204 it will likely be the main battery.

It will need to be an AGM battery.

A few things can prevent the stop/start system functioning, whilst your right the battery is the most common cause, but I do see a few other random ones!

If its old and showing signs of being a bit slow crankig in the mornings, then I wouldnt hesistate to replace it.

Thanks guys. keep 'em coming. I suppose 7 years is a good run for a battery, esp. a stop/start.
If anyone has info on a specific dealer, with decent prices, that would be great.
I find Halfords almost as bad as Mercedes for high prices.
That's why my local Halfords rarely has more than 2 or 3 wandering around the shop. :(

Mercedes Grangemouth - mention this forum and you get a decent discount. They have delivered to local Arnold Clark garages for free as well...

How do you use your car - is it lots of short runs or does it get to stretch its legs?

 - I'd ask for a discount!! Last one I did was on the GL, and genuine AGM from my local dealer was £130, which was cheaper than Halfords. Admittedly that was 4 years ago, but I can't imagine they've gone up by £110, and the GL was a BIG battery!!

This car is used for long runs, rarely less than 50---70 miles each time.

Yes Tanya offer a next day delivery and a very competitive price I changed my MB battery last year supplied by them with a Varta which is OEM

I always give a replacement battery a top up charge when it arrives with a CTEK before fitting

Doesn't the W204 use a main battery / capacitor combo where the W212 uses the main battery / aux battery combo?

Seen a few C class owners needing the capacitor replaced rather than the battery.

Even then, the first step would be to condition the battery as in the winter it can be a case of the battery just never gets optimised via driving. So a good charge off the grid can solve the issue for many for no real cost.

I always turn it off tbh. I wouldn't be bothered if it didnt work. Each to their own though.

Ive seen agm batteries at advanced battery supplies for £145.

The W204 uses a 12Ah AGM Aux battery located in the spare tyre well, it's the W205 from late 2014 that uses capacitors, confusingly referred to by MB as the 'Aux Battery' not sure about the 212?
