I like to learn the hard way sadly so I’ve bought the race chip to give it a bash. tbh I was expecting to plug it in the obd thing lol
Not in the sensor connectors
Does anyone have a diagram where I plug it in to the sensors as the instructions show a vw for gods sake!

Help is appreciated

Problem is that’s a vw and I don’t know where to find these parts in my car. Can’t find an engine diagram either.

I'm with you on that one. :)

It reminds me of something back in the early 90's. The company I worked for insisted that all of their company cars were Diesels. I ended up with a Mondeo Diesel. They were crap and the fuel consumption was also crap. We had fords for a while because Ford were providing leasing companies and the like with free 3 month demonstrators at the time. :(

When we complained about the fuel consumption they bought some gismo's that were supposed to give a 20% improvement on the fuel consumption. Well, all these thing were were two magnets that you clipped to the hose from the fuel pump to the injectors and guess what improvement we got in our MPG, yes bugg€r all. :D

And that was the resolve to the fuel consumption issues from the 3rd largest Motor Contract Hire Company in the UK.:D

I’m just curious to see how it makes it run.
Sounds like similar to what a remap does just not as involed.
I’ll probably try it out and see what I think.
Anyone know where I can find out where the turbo boost pressure sensor is located
And the manifold absolute pressure sensor.

It doesn't do what a remap does. All that type of device does is fool the ECU by fiddling with the sensor readings.
A good remap will set up the precise fuelling and boost for your engine and optimise it taking into account specific manufacturing tolerances present in your specific engine.

ignore the ignorance but isn’t the race chip just fooling it the same way as the re map except the remap does slightly more with extra parameters?

Anyway I e bought the ****er. Instructions are for a vw! I’m not a mechanic so tomoz I’ve gotta find the boost sensor and summat else haha. Then if I manage to actually fit the ****er I’ll prob then go get a remap done in the not too distant future and see how it is

No a remap is exactly that. It doesn't try to tell the ECU something is one value when it's another. A remap tells the ECU what to do when the real value is x, y or z. It also replaces a generic map with a custom map tailored to your engine.
Those add on boxes are just a bodge.

So a chip is a non invasive cheat way!?
Do chips actually give you the hp as I noticed they genearraly offer the same as a remap.
And is the reason why chips are looked down on as they’re not quite the real thing although they will give you the power just in a more brutal way than is best long term

Sometimes they give very little at all as there are torque and smoke limiters within the ecu map that the box can't alter .

And a very poor regard to egt's if they do work .

Race Chip claim an extra 120Nm for mine which is impossible with a dpf .
It's just false marketing . Lies .
