No head or sump

Is it a 1600 Ford Crossflow?

Rebuilt a few of those in my time in 1760 format with a BCF3 cam, flywheel like a dinner plate and twin 48 Dellortos on inch and a half ram pipes and a decent head. Wedged one in an A30 as a "Q" car :)

Coolant passages look a bit blocked up BC ? Was this the reason for demise I wonder ? Also, it's gonna be a bit down on power without the head, just sayin:D

It's been sitting in a cupboard in an Ikea bag for at least 6 years so it is a bit dry...

It's the rare "Dry Sump" version so bound to have more power

711M was the old Kent engine casting 1970 on which has the thicker sidewall. 1600 Ford X-Flow was BA suffix like yours, the 1300 was AA.
Thanks David, so is it worth anything? Probably going to stick it on gumtree, FB Marketplace and or ebay ad it isn't any use to me.

Stick it on pistonheads or a Ford forum, or Ford Facebook page?

Or turn it into a coffee table and lights... IMG_20171231_161255.jpg IMG_20181111_125312.jpg ...

The coffee table now has pride of place in France :)

I tried it with a 300tdi. Couldn't lift the damn thing even without pistons, rods and crank fitted!

I would have thought £250 should be attainable if the bores and crank are standard so there is room for a rebore and grind.

Could be a little on the light side. There are loads of Ford short engines on Fleabay ranging from £250 to a couple of grand
