Technology is great but as Boeing have discovered with the 737 Max, it can never be infallible.

Also no seat belt up law over in the usa
Depends on the state. Iirc now most states mandate their fitting and use, unhelpfully not all mandate that inertia reel locking style belts must be fitted.

No chance of me bothering with that. Where are tesla and Benz when yr in bits in hosp or worse.!!!! I starting to think tomorrow's youth won't learn how to drive next along with a lot of other stuff, wash, housework, car repair, house maintainenance ect.. I won't be around for that and if the young prxxxs don't wake up, (covid) neither will they be!!

An old B-Class.
It's the Premium Plus Spec, uses Distronic, Cruise etc etc, has two cameras in the windcreen to scan/follow the road and radar to scan for hazards/slower vehicles in front too. It will steer round bends on the m/way at speed, but not as smooth as I would if I was holding the wheel.

I have it in mine and find it quite good (even on the motorway) but mostly use it in slow moving traffic. The red hands show pretty quickly in my - never timed it but would say within a minute....

This update today on Auntie says "A Canadian man has been charged with dangerous driving for allegedly taking a nap while his self-driving Tesla car clocked up more than 90mph"

Auntie says "Hands-free driving could be made legal on UK roads by spring"

Great... drivers on the M25 will be able to have a kip on their way home and the police will never know because the traffic is just far too heavy for them to het close enough and observe!

I managed 155mph on the autobahn on my VFR800, measured from my sat nav. I was not sleeping!

I thought all this driverless systems followed the speed of the specific road it was travelling on. So how did it get to 96mph. There are no roads in Canada that allow that speed legally.

I have one of the original driver aids in my passenger seat with infallible hindsight and full AI.

Also comes with fault assist where all other road users actions are analysed for my contributory negligence.

Like Alexa there is voice control but sometimes you have to swear to get it to turn off.

I believe its very expensive to get rid of ?

I have only ever managed 140mph on the autobahn in my E class, due to my driver aid in the passenger seat waking up.

I had 145 in my W210 for quite awhile with speed limiter and MIL onboard... neither noticed

I tried "plugging" my driver aid in, it works well but soon wears off and to be frank it takes a while to get to the end of the "programming" session.
Perhaps I should trade it in and get a newer model ?

More expensive than you would ever believe, and arguably, mostly in your mental state of health.

Are you trying to tell me a Mercedes main agent would be a cheaper option and better for my peace of mind ?
