engine judder starting

1997 C230 sport Auto Petrol engine. When i start engine up from cold it seems to misfire and rev up and down. After a few minutes revving it seems to calm down and after a few hundred yards driving everything seems to be back to normal? Anyone any suggestions what could be causing this...
