I wonder if anyone has experienced this problem or could advise me further?

When I start my car the oil pressure guage usually rises to the maximum 3 level (without pressing down the accelerator pedal) and stays there until i turn the engine off at the end of my journey.

Recently however, it does not rise fully when I start the car. It only rises (to the 3 level) when I put the accelorator pedal down and give it some revs. As soon as I release the accelerator (and the revs drop), the oil pressure guage drops back down to about half way. I have heard that it is ok if it rises to 3 with acceleration, but it concerns me that it has suddenly gone like this.

I hope someone can help?

Many thanks.

My oil pressure is down to 1 bar on tickover with a hot engine and that is acceptable. You might find and oil and filter change will help a little if it is due.
