1971 350SL Interior

Am kicking off overhaul on 71 350SL. Currently has original black and grey tex interior which is past it's sell by date(exterior is forest green launch colour). Could someone advise if it is worthwhile to have complete re-do in leather and if so any recommendations on and potential costs. Also advice on acquiring MB carpets would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

getting genuine mb carpets in the right colour is now very diffcult if not impossible. After 1975 the trim codes were listed on the the vehicle datacard and on the microfishe so it was easy to tie up.But before then (pre microfiche) trim codes were not listed in the parts books and so its now best guess.
This will give your local mb dealer a real nightmare and dont be surprised if he fobs you off with some lame excuse.

If they are still available you can certainly expect them to be expensive.
It may be best to have a specialst company make some for you (lots of them out there)

Thanks for the comments, I'll have a go with the local Merc dealers and see how I get on, but don't hold out much hope.
