Hi all,

I've searched the forum and found some helpful info, but I since they were quite old I hope there may be some more up to date info available from members.

I intend to look at the above car for sale. The seller describes the air con as not working. It still uses R12 gas.

Let's assume the compressor works ok and the other bits and pieces, and it simply needs a re-gas and/or conversion to R134a or other alternative. I will carry out some basic checks when I view it.

From the old threads, it appears there may be a gas which can be used instead of converting. Does anyone agree?

Alternatively, if conversion is the proper way of going about this, from my garage days at a CJ dealer we would change some seals and the drier. Does this sound right? (It was a few years ago so I may be mistaken).

If anyone has some advice on how to approach this then I would be grateful. Naturally I can't take on this work myself, so if anyone knows of a reputable aircon chap in and around the Berks/Wilts/Hants area, even better!

Cheers,
Toby.
