Im thinking of buying a 280 ce from 1981. Bodywork and mechanics are fine but will need some interior trim renovations. For sale at £4000. Is this a reasonable price and what should i look for as i've only ever owned newer model mercs.

You really need to check very thoroughly for rust issues.

Decent W123's are becoming like hens teeth and the best coupes are now going for over £15K.

If the car has covered an average mileage and has no real rust then 4K is a good price.
