It sounds obvious, but everything else is reliable, and easy to fix, rust is the big killer.. find a rust-free(ish) one and you're sorted.. other niggles can be addressed.
Not sure if you will have d(dodgey)-jet or the more reliable k-jet injection at that age, worth checking.
