Just wandering....

Have read with interest the 2005 tyre test (think its by'AutoExpress').
Vredesteins' tyres came out as the number1 tyre,(Hi Trac),2nd was Maloya (Futura Primato),and 3rd was Continental (Eco Contact 3).

I have Vredestein tyres on a Saab I bought recently and I have to say they're excellent, even with 13,000 miles on them.

I do need to replace all four tyres on my 1990 300SE,and looked at the Vredesteins on mytyres.co.uk and see that they do sell the 'Hi Trac'
205/65R15 as a 94H.
Noticed that the tyres I have on the Mercedes at the moment(Michelin Pilot Primacy 205/65R15) are 94V.

I know that the H and the R relate to maximum speeds the tyre will go to,but if I don't drive upto the H limit(130mph!),surely they'll be fine to fit?
Any thoughts people...

Otherwise it looks like I'll be buying the Continentals or the Maloyas.:-(

Choosing a lower tyre speed rating could INVALIDATE your INSURANCE, check with them and see what they say..

As Blobcat says, you must not go down on your speed rating, You can fail your MOT and be fined by police, for having incorrect tyres.

Yes indeed. Some of us need Z rating, even though it is illegal to drive at more than the standard R plonk budget jobs will handle.

Check out the Technical Spec. in the handbook to see what speed rating you require.

Also when visiting the Mytyres.com website click on the "advice" tab. You can search for your vehicle by model and it lists which tyres are suitable.
