Hi all

First thing in the morning the car feels sluggish it will go ok if pushed but everything seems to be holding back, even the ecelorator feels stiffer.

Is it the computer telling the car it's cold or just the way mechanical things act when cold

Hope that all make sence

Thanks
Kristian

How long does it take for the car to feel normal

About 3 miles when it warms up

I just wondered if it was the engine management protecting it

My C250 is fairly sluggish and the gearbox is a bit stiff when cold. Totally fine when warm.

I find my auto is either a bit keen to change or revs a bit high while I drive off my estate in the morning.

As FarmerDan ... my auto revs higher before changing when really cold. Settles to normal after about a mile. I tend to flick the Tiptronic to over-ride it and get it to change up normally - hate high revs!

it is designed to do that to enable warm up of catalyst in the exhaust system. That only lasts for the first mile or so, then reverts to normal.

This is not apparent in my W211,winter or summer.

I do exercise engine sympathy & endeavour to avoid harsh usage until it has warmed up.

On the rare occasions I have had to floor it when still cold it responds accordingly.

Mines not so eager when really cold - though whether thats the car or just me being subconsiously mechanically sympathetic I'm never quite sure - but engines don't perform at their optimal level when cold, autos hold gears when cold so yes, it will feel a bit sluggish.
Then again, its not the only one thats sluggish on a cold morning - I'm not so quick myself.
