A class Fuel tank acts dry at half way!

My wifes A140 t reg acts as if it is dry, but the fuel gague shows half full.

If it is parked on a slope it will not start until it is level. She has to ensure it is always above half full. A mechanic I spoke to has come across this before, but could't remember what the problem is.

It is possible that the float is sticking.

Check the manual for fuel tank capacity. How close to that can you get when filling it from half full?

the tank strainer (if there is one on a petrol a class) could be blocked.....

It will be the fuel tank sender faulty. We used to do loads of them at dealers. Not a difficult job but fiddly.
