Hello, I'm wanting to change my front shocks (pair) as I think mine are completely goosed. I made earlier post about feeling every bump but ppl suggested it's probably normal with sports suspension. That still maybe the case but I've been looking at other cars on eBay or auto trader and the gap between the wheel and tyres looks huge compared to mine.
The reason I'm doing this now is I've noticed a groaning sound while braking and turning like something's rubbing on the rack. So to recap, feels to hard, wanders to the left intermittently, looks like it's lower than normal. Goes over speed jumps ok slowly but I think the springs deal with them.
Question is...do you guess usually buy from euro car parts, eBay or somewhere trustworthy.
I'll check my springs visually as that's all I can do without a new one to compare to...if I buy them also (springs) it's an extra £200 ontop of the £340 for the shocks.
Thanks guys

The A207 is quite low sprung. The gap from the top of the tyre to bottom of arches is quite tight. Has yours noticeably changed and has it become more noisy? Could be rod ends if its groaning, drifting or noisy when turning. Any play in the steering wheel? Possibly I would confirm the problem first as the suspension components aren't cheap as you already know.

Could have a broken spring (or 2…)
I’d go with autodoc for springs and shocks

For our CLS I bought a pair of standard spec Eibach ones from eBay. Genuine item, £80 for the rear pair.

AUTODOC is a safe bet plus you can easily choose the brands you want. Stick with Sachs, eibach.

As you are doing your whole set, which is very sensible as that way all corners of your car will perform equally well, I would say consider a suspension kit which may be cost effective also.
(The only downside is I would now not recommend harder dampers or springs over original due or our roads.) This is also a good time to do the top mounts which cause various issues but always get neglected.

I have no idea why German cars break their springs but, they are notorious for it. I can only assume it’s the crap quality they use so this is yet another reason to avoid genuine.
