Hi there

I have accidently scuffed/scratched one of my 17" alloy wheels (Type 638) on my CLK Convertible whilst parking close to a kerb. It really just needs some touch-up paint but my local Mercedes dealer says that they cannot supply it and i need to pay a SMART Repair company to do the work !!

Anyone out there know where I could get original Mercedes alloy wheel paint from ??

SMART repair centres

Hello clive

I've occasionally heard reference to SMART repair centres. Do you know what SMART stands for, that's if it stands for anything?

On a more serious note.
If you run your car down to someone like,Spray store supplies they will be able to match the paint for you.
They mix all types of paint for the trade and public.

Isn't it Small Mobile Area Repair Technique. ChipsAway and Flying Colours are exponents of this system. A friend of mine went to Chipsaway and had a set of four alloys tidied up for £120. Looked pretty good. He had to be careful with acid based alloy cleaner afterwards mind.

Try MB700 as the Merc alloy colour. I used high build primer, MB Diamond silver and loads of laquer, and they seem all right. Real cost in time and elbow grease about the same as a specialist.
