Hi all,
Having a bit of nightmare with my W205 2016
I had a pre safe warning flashing up about a week ago, my neighbour brought a diagnostic tool round and we tried resetting it which worked briefly but came back on…It was saying abs sensors fault in front n/s
A couple of days later we get lane departure and abs warnings, then now I’ve got more or less everything flashing up
Cruise isn’t working, handbrake won’t apply, power steering gone, struggled to get it into reverse to looking at getting it towed to a garage in the next few days..
Does anyone have any ideas, could it be that because I’ve carried on driving with the original fault it’s sort of trying to make it awkward so it has to be repaired sooner?

Thanks in advance

Have you checked the battery charge ? Should be over 12.6v before starting. Mercs are famous for flashing up random warnings when the battery is dud. Worth starting with the cheap easily fixable stuff first :)

Just been through a similar experience with my w164, a failed wheel speed sensor caused issues with ABS, ESP, Cruise, headlights and at one point put the gearbox into limp mode with no reverse.

Replace that failed sensor the diagnostics indicated, and I am pretty sure your car will return to normal.

Thanks Richard , it does sound almost identical ,this is the original message on diagnostics

C0031(4A)

Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor

Status: Pending, Confirmed, Test failed since last DTC clear Click to search for description on the Internet...

Hopefully this will sort it, il try and get someone to change it, should I be looking at Mercedes parts ? How much would be reasonable for part and repairs ?

Mercedes, Pagid or ATE parts for this, don’t buy the cheap ones on eBay, they are fakes.

A good technician should take 30mins, so allow an hour for rust and the usual unexpected issues. The sensor should be £30-£50, can’t really comment for genuine Mercedes, but probably more like £80. I would expect you should get the whole job done for between £200-£250.

Whereabouts are you based. Someone may be able to recommend a good Indie near you.

All sorted, thanks for the input guys
It was the front near side speed sensor and the battery was shot, apparently that specific sensor is linked to a lot of other stuff causing all the mayhem like Richard said above, I’m just relieved it wasn’t something more serious.
It went to M-Star in Radcliffe as it was closer and it had to be recovered in the end..

It was them that quoted me "more than twice that" of the £300+ quote from Mercedes themselves to replace the water pump on my Smart Roadster. And also just twisted wires together when they wired out a switch in the load area of the same car .... Needless to say their "fix" failed.

I still find this absurd that a vehicle needs physical recovery for the sake of a failing battery & a dud sensor.

Its it me, or have we all accepted this as the norm, these days?
