Your Mercedes
W213 E400d All Terrain
Sadly, I am leaving the folds of Mercedes ownership for a while, though I will still read the forums and comment where I can help.

The contract on my E-Class has come to an end, and having decided I wanted a four wheel drive car, I looked at what Mercedes had to offer, and decided the car of my desire is a GL350. Unfortunately, it has to be the post 2011 model when they fitted the more powerful 265BHP unit, and they are still just a little more that I want to spend at present.

I have therefore bought a cheap and cheerful Audi allroad (The original one, not the so called A6 allroad) So far, it's not actually too bad - the 2.5 V6 is down on power compared to the E-Class, but is smooth with a reasonably wide torque band.

The interior is comfortable, but while the cabin feels well made, it is very "fiddly" compared with the MBs I have owned. Things like the cruise control and radio are awkward to work with small or badly positioned controls.

By far the best thing about the car however, is the road holding. Even in this nice sunny weather, the difference in traction is noticable on country roads and you can't really believe that the car will ever go anywhere other than exactly where you point it -can't wait for the nice snowy roads in winter now!!! :)

Anyway, hopefully I'll be back in the next year or possibly two with my nice shiny GL, so until then, thanks to all who have taken the trouble to reply / help over the last 11 years or so.

Cheers,
Bill
