Thought I'd post an update on this...

My S500 seems to have become increasingly asleep when I want to press on, and its becoming dangerous. Went to rip it past 3 half asleep motorists and stood on it... the car lost at least 2 car lengths doing precisely nothing at all, before it woke up and then flew safely past them all in less time that it took to change down. Quite how its forgotten how to kick down I don't know? Yet in a moment on annoyance just 3 miles earlier I had used the Sport button for the first time in 3 months. I had to take it off within 200 yards of enabling it had gone to crazy change down 3 gears at any possible opportunity it can think of where it would be the last thing you'd ever want to happen (which is how its always badly functioned). Why do I need it to hold gears and spin to the read line when I've gone back to using 3% throttle due to prevailing traffic. It has always had the brain of a demented ant always adapting wrongly in either C or S.

And why mention that? well since fitting this Brabus box on the tractor, I driven it a bit more and got more used to its behaviors, and its a stark contrast to the 3 times faster S500. The gearbox never seems to get muddled, it just does its job, I don't encounter the mad as a box of frog behaviours the S500 box likes to find. The tractor responds to the throttle like a normal car when the S500 morphs waywardly between totally asleep or more on it than an F1 car doing a lap round jeddah corniche.

With this add-on installed on the tractor you can play with its handling, enjoy driving it, and its actual added grunt is light and day over where it was. I didn't think it was much quicker but once used to how it goes about things its much better... and it certainly isn't using more fuel, drive sensibly and its fractionally better, rag its brains out and aside for the clouds of death you leave behind, its still about as good as it was.... (which is appalling by modern tractor terms but 32mpg round town and 42mpg on a run)
