I have recently purchased a 1996 5 speed Auto C200. The auto box works fine most of the time but gets confused if I go from Reverse to D too quickly or vica versa.  I have to make a concious effort to pause and wait until D has engaged, and I can feel the 'take-up' before I put my foot down or I can't pull away quickly.  The other problem is the box does not seem to change down much when approaching a roundabout, and If I want to pull into a gap before I have come to a complete standstill I have to wait for a few gears worth of kickdown before I have any power. Is this the same for anyone else with this kind of box?  Also I need to replace a bad speaker system and wondered if anyone has any experience/advice of getting proper speakers and mounts for both the front and rear speakers in an oldish C-class saloon. All I can see at the moment is drilling and self-tapping the door interior and rear shelf.

Hi,

I am assuming that your vehicle is fitted with the early electronic box. Identified by having W\S by the gear shift leaver. If so then you need to get the faults read out of the ECU, to find out what the box is doing. Only then can an accurate diagnossis be carried out.
