hi all, just for general curiosity, what are the main differences between the C class and the E class merc's during the mid 90's?

I noticed most of the current C Class machines have a shorter overall length than the E Class (320's) Is it possible the C Class machines in the mid 90's were also a smaller vehicle in length? Is this the main difference between the C/E classes?

Thanks

They are a different class of car. The C-Class was smaller and cheaper.Equivalent to a 3 series BMW.
The E-Class was the equivalent to a 5 series

E and C Class are both Mercedes....

Not sure about C class but E class gets you on first name terms with your local breakdown service, hammers home to you that there are still car makers out there who persist in selling crap and screwing you financially, who will call a failed exhaust at 4,000 miles normal wear and tear to avoid replacing it. They will also sell you a car with dangerous bugs in it and you carry an unacceptable risk of total brake failure.

With experience of one Mercedes my advice is steer well clear of them if you harbour any thoughts of a new one.
