I have the C180K Sport Coupe Auto with the Evo pack, which includes the sports suspension and 17" wheels (225/45 front and 245/40 rears) and I find the ride is very good - its firm but not uncomfortable - you get good feedback thorugh the steering but its still smooth and composed on the road.

I don't think there will be any comparison between the MG and the C220 - they are leagues apart - MG basically took a standard rover bolted on a few bits and then fitted stiff dampers and big wheels.

I find my sport coupe to be perfect for both short and long (2hr+) journeys on both motorways and a/b-roads.

Excellent - this is what I like to hear. Thanks.

So ... if you already have 17" wheels, and the sports suspension - what does the AMG pack provide in addition to this? Is it purely a bodykit?

I'll hopefully take one for a test drive this week :)

Hi,
On my 320CE, I went from 15" wheels with 195/65 on, to 17" wheels with 225/45 on and I can say that they are just the wrong side of harsh FOR THIS OLD FART. As the Americans say, your experience may differ.

What I can say is that there is a VAST difference in NVH between different makes of tyres, more so than changing 1 or 2 aspect ratio points on the same tyres. So if you think it's too harsh/noisy, there are options other than trading it in......
The smooth/quiet ones were Dunlop SP9000 BTW.

Hi I have a CLK 55 AMG,the ride is not only firm it is choppy. The handling is excellent I have driven it round Brands on track days and lapped all other cars including M5s Porches etc with ease.It is deceptive ,it rolls but sticks, the best way is to be brave and keep your foot in.

My previous car was a S600 I decided at 58 I should become more conservative and less of a boy racer,I even considered buying a pipe and becoming a freemason. I got bored with the S600 because my previous car was a 450bhp Mitsubishi Evo 6 Makinen, this had Tein suspension fitted it was firm but not choppy and very compliant, also it cornered flat.I did 1000 miles a week no problem, also road noise was not a problem because with the de-cated exhaust you could hear the road or any thing else for that matter.

You would think that MB AMG could do a better job of tuning their suspension, because I agree after long journeys when I exit the AMG I need 3 days of Physio and a box of Paracetamol. However I am prepared to sacrifice my physical wellbeing to continue to drive what I consider to be an exellent car.If you cant take the pain stick with your Rover go to Kwick Fit anf fit high profile tyres on 15 inch rims..............AMGs are for drivers not posers;)
