Hi there,

I have recently heard a slight knocking coming from the front end of my 99 C280 Sport (101k on the clock). I put it down to ball joints, which I have now changed but the sounds still remain.

It happens most when I 1st drive the car in the mornings then quiets down a little as the car warms up. The last time I heard something like this was on my Renault Laguna & that turned out to be anti-roll bar link arms. The anti-roll bar bushes seem ok & the springs are fine also. The Shocks do squeak a little when I go over speed bumps but there are no signs of leaks.

I just really wanted to know if anyone had any idea what it could be before i spend lots of money on shocks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Lee

It is normally the links that make the noise, they cost around £6 each from MB.

rear wishbone bush on NSF control arm gone because front bush is tending to sieze. Common problem, and may need the siezed bolt cutting off to get the wishbone (control arm) out.
