C320 Clicking behind dashboard

Hi Everyone

I'm new to the forum and have recently bought a 2001 C320 Avantgarde. I am getting a load clicking noise coming from behind the dashboard and am wondering what to do. This noise occurs on start up and lasts about 1 minute. I have read quite a bit about this on the forum, and it seems like the problem will be with 1 of the 7 motors tht control the air vents. When I bought the car it came with an AA 5 Star warranty.

Does anyone know if I will be able to claim the repair under this warranty?

Dashboard Knocking/Clicking

I have just bought a 2002 C270 CDI Estate and also have a clicking noise that lasts for about 30-45 seconds on startup. It seems to come from the RH side of the dash.

Any help would be appreciated

I've a 2001 C320 Avantgarde and it does exactly the same. Clicking comes from both sides, alternating left to right for about 1 minute after start up. I've also read somewhere that it's the vent control motors. Can anyone give some advice

Stepper/blending motors for the vents. There are 7 of them. Some require dash removal to replace.

Had this fault on our car but discovered it before purchasing so the dealer replaced the offending item under warranty. I believe that it was something to with the heater control / vent unit. I understand that it is not an easy job and requires a major dashboard out to do.

I have also heard that this fault is especially common on the C class when a luxury climate upgrade is present.
