Hi all, Yesterday I locked my 95 CE320 and on returning found I could not get in due to what I thought was a battery problem in the key fob. Not to worry I thought just use the key in the passenger door. Imagine my surprise when the key did not fit that lock or the boot lock!! It does work the ignition though. I have owned the car for about eighteen months and have never had to open it with a key before and it was the only key the previous owner gave me. Well one AA call out later I was on my way due to the AA guy managing to open the car. He didnt have any new batteries so it wasnt until this morning that I managed to get some. I replaced the duff ones and I still can't operate the locking with the fob. I read the part in the handbook about synchronizing the locking and that didn't seem to work either. My car had to go in for a service today but my normally excellent mechanic tells me the best thing to do would be to see a main dealer. Any clues about what the problem may be? Mercedes tell me they can supply spare keys from the chassis number. Sorry for long thread but

Your car has probably had an ignition barrel replaced & the previous owner only gave you the new ignition key without the other car keys. Yes MB can get keys coded to chassis (unless, of course, it's had all the other barrels changed as well).
