I have changed the fuel filter ( 3 connections took 2 minutes, primed the new filter (not to the top but almost) and the car started, ran for 3 seconds, stopped and will not restart. Despite cranking vigorously the car won't restart.

When I turn the key on, should there be a buzz of a priming pump running? - I can't hear one.

I am guessing that the only pump on the system is the HP injector pump.. can anyone confirm this?

Has anyone got any ideas for getting me out of the sh1t on this?

Diesel - now running

Having changed many diesel filters in the past and had varying amounts of success, I thought I was on a loser.

So, for anyone in the future...

1) Fill the new filter with clean diesel... when I say fill I mean fill and bleed out all the air by tapping the housing.

2) Refit the filter in its holder and reconnect everything.

3) Crank for 15 seconds and away we go!

Better than an hour of Mercedes time and only a few quid for a 'pattern' Bosch filter.
