When I'm driving I can't hear the cyclist, pedestrian or sheep, I've to look out for them.
Looking right, left and right again isn't over complicated for a pedestrian.

No one has advocated that the ever innocent cyclist should have a speaker on the front, but they can cause some damage, and do.

You know you want one!!!

OMG... those front seats yeeuch. And I think back in the day the middle one only had a "cut you in half" lap belt.

Reminds me of a flight I was on from Dusseldorf to UK some time back. I always try to get an aisle seat so I can pop up to go to t'loo or shift to another seat if I get a gasbag etc next to me. But the flight was full and I got stuck with a middle seat and had two really huge military types on each side - so much that I could hardly move. Flying has never bothered me but on that flight I felt dreadfully claustrophobic. Fortunately, I managed to force a doze and the next thing was we were landing.

And if you can't get a Multipla go for a Nissan Serena...

The best-selling car I mentioned WAS the Serena...!

Re EV noise, there is an episode of Fully Charged (YouTube channel by a certain Red Dwarf actor) that did a test with a blind pedestrian. The tyre noise above walking pace meant the blind guy could hear it coming.
There does appear to be a lot of negative feelings towards electric vehicles, some if it possibly due to missunderstood or very out of date information. Anyone would think there were vested interests to protect.
I do wonder whether hybrids will be with us long term, at present they are a way of introducing electric power to the masses, and keeping the authorities happy with enhanced mileage for manufacturers against their full range of cars s, but as battery tech evolves, will they become unnecessary?

Serena by name and Serena by nature. One of the most bland boring so inoffensive its offensive cars on the road. Makes an Avensis look positively exciting!

It's the first car with a dual-layer rear hatch, and also see-through perforated sunvisors. I couldn't get it.

The Japanese just can't get enough of it though.

Years ago What Car I think) did a review. The summary was "a totally horrible car". I think it got one star. A guy I was working with was going to order one (Company Car and of course we had £-limits) because he used to go surfing down in Cornwall every possible weekend. But he came to his senses. I think he went as far as trying one but 6' 2" into Serena won't go! Well, not very well for a regular four hour journey (maybe longer, it couldn't knock the skin off a rice pudding)!

I see a white one and a pink one every day, makes me happy to be sitting in the MB

Most cars make me happy to be in a MB.
- Except most new MB's!

Oh it's completely practical, there's bags of room and the luggage area is very cleverly designed indeed. It just looks like a bland generic thing and drives like it looks. It's perfect for the Japanese/ Korean market, they view a car designed to take the family as just that, it's a tool. Aesthetics take a back seat to practicality and build quality/ ease of use. and it'll return 50-odd to the gallon so it's cheap to run...

Seeing as Petrolprices originally started up to increase the buying power of motorists, failed totally and catastrophically- I joined up in its first year, it never produced a brass ha'poth- and now exists to do generic editorials, I don't put that much credence to its work.

That said, current diesel technology will continue to evolve to meet whatever political consideration is given to pollution for whatever year the car is built in.

And that... is a classic case of not understanding what EVs can do at their current state. Where I work now there are 40 various EVs, including Leafs (Leaves?) that are all used as commuting & family cars, the owners all think that they're superb and do exactly what they want them to do. One chap who's about 6 foot from me now, a very highly outspoken engineer, hated his for the first week. Then he adapted his driving style to suit and now wouldn't change back.

Remember, 80 years ago trams were called "silent killers" for the same reason, but there wasn't a call for trams to be banned for it...

I'm not sure if that's a criticism or not. I have to deal with the situation I am faced with. The leccy cars on offer at work are all several years old now, one owner, great condition, low mileage. They're probably fairly low tech compared to what we can get now.

I'd love a Tesla. I can't afford one. Neither do I want to put my life savings into a new / nearly new leccy car which might be much better than I imagine they are. I'm quite happy to pay the tax to drive something I know I like at reasonable cost.

The really noteworthy point in this article is the likelihood of increases in both the vehicle and fuel tax. Given the UK financial situation, Hammond will be over the moon to be handed a god-given (with a small g) opportunity to rape and pillage the diesel-driving motorist and hide behind the 'good for the planet' label, just like all two-faced politicians seize the moment. No doubt he'll be able to say it wasn't him or the Tories who fed the false information to the public.

The motor and fuel industries should working 24 hours a day to find solutions for the existing vehicle parc - where many owners - yes like me, switched to diesel because I was fed the "it's cleaner and greener now" message by government.

Like Craig, I jioned up to petrolprices.com for the same reason - in the anticipation of saving money. The only thing it really does for me nowadays is provide a point to check local prices if we're travelling.

The common denominator as Naraic said is "Overpopulation", too many on this tiny island, NHS full, roads full, schools, dentists , the list goes on, "Brexit" came 10 years too late, they are all here now and they reproduce quickly encouraged by the good old Brits welfare system. Diesel cars etc are just a diversion from the real problems we will face, also the issue should only apply to heavily overcrowded cities on still air days, which are few and far between. Herbie.

Hi Kiwi, It's the ones who have set up their own land here and do not believe in integration, who have prospered and got away with everything they have wanted by "playing the race card", even the police and councilors kept their heads down, when vunerable girls were being abused etc.

Behavior is what matters, not colour or creed, all other races who are here have integrated and help us, and do not walk about with just their eyes showing.

The Kiwis. Ausies, Irish and Poles are great, etc. Herbie.
