I have just had the cylinder head off of my old 200 saloon. Number 2 exhaust valve has been replaced and all have been re-ground. The guy who tuned it last time reckoned that the distributor was on it's way out. I have been quoted £250+ vat (Eurocarparts) for a re-placement, steep I think. Also what should the exhaust-valve clearances be?
Do I need to buy new head bolts too?

The head bolts may need replacement, its a bit complicated to check them, at only £11.75 +vat per set from us its not worth messing around.

As to the dizzy, thats a rare part to go. Try a bosch specialist or maybe even a breakers yard

Cheers David.
I'll replace the cylinder head bolts, as for the dizzy problem, more investigation is needed to be sure that it is the offending article.
