i have had 3 merc estates in 20 years with no real hassle
now my jan 2002 estate has cost me £1500 to replace the front and middle sections of the catalitic converters the cer is 4 months out of warranty
merc say its waer and tear i work from home and its done 48 000 miles only
why has this happened ?willit hapen again ? i have dealt with the garage for years and respect their jugement the engine runs clean . should i complain direct to merc ?

any thoughts apreciated

You could write a letter to Merc but don't expect any sort of compensation. For each case like yours they will point to the many that run fine for years.

I think this one is a grin and bear it job.

If the rest of the car has been fine over the years then you've been lucky, if not well, time for a change maybe.
