Sorry to change the subject...
I am looking to purchase my first Mercedes, and I am looking at either the or E220 or E320 cabriolet (1995 to 1996). Please can someone advise me on which is the better car to go for and why. It will be used approximately 3 - 4 days per week on short trips.

Wonderful cars...

See the following thread which addresses your question in part: http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/viewtopic.php?t=7472&highlight=

In brief, although some people are die-hards for the 6-cylinder 320, the 4-cylinder 220 is definitely not underpowered and uses about 10% less petrol. On a short run the 220 would be fine (and you can even have some fun in it!) - the only reason why I might like a 320 is for long motorway runs above 90mph.

I am extremely happy with my 220. There are some duff ones about so do be careful - FMBSH is king and there should be no rust on the car at all. www.silverarrows.co.uk have a nice-looking 320 for £14,950 which they have had since August so you might be able to beat them down a little (probably not much as they first listed it at £19,000 I think).

If you can afford paying the fuel bills, then I'd go for the 320. I have a 4-cylinder and a 6-cylinder Mercedes (different eras, though, 124 and 114 respectively) and there is nothing quite like the smoothness of a 6 cylinder to put a smile on your face!
