E280 Indicators?

We have a 1995 E280 Estate with an indicat r problem that is driving (sic) my partner nuts.

Every so often the indicators just stop working. When that happens the rear screen demister and hazards also pack up. I've tried reseating that huge relay in the relay box which seemed to help for a while and then it happened again. Any ideas anyone as she is threatening to sell the car which would be a problem for me because I like it.

It is quite likely a fuse corroded. A known Merc foible. Very often worse when the weather is damp.

Twist the fuses in their holders.

Replacement of corroded fuses is the eventual cure, and you can buy packs from the Dealer.

Hello and welcome. The fault is in or around the N10 box that you have been playing with. not normall to get everything going so it would appear to be bad contacts in the holder of the relay box. Get a good switch cleaner and lubricate all of the contacts and fuses.

Simply tell her to use hand signals to erradicate this issue

also inside the big black box. If you open it you may find alot of dry joints on the edge of the circuit board. Try resoldering. Dealers can only supply new ones. Wont repair old ones.

Thnaks guys - terrific response. I've already twisted the fuzes. I guess I'll try replacing any that go to the GP relay and indicators then and have a look at that circuit board. How does it come out? Easy or hard?
