Hi, I'm new here and to Mercedes's.
Recently bought a 2007 c180 and either I'm being a bit stupid or have a fault with electric mirrors.
Folding in worked fine, now can't get them to fold out Maybe it's operator error but left them in over night now can't get them to open.
Is there a button I'm not pressing for long enough or something silly or is this likely a fault?
Could i open them manually without damaging?
Thanks in advance

You can't open them manually.

I don't know your switches, but on others you have to press a button to indicate that you wish to open as opposed to close.

Sometimes it can just be an electrics gremlin.

Unlock the car and open the door. Pull the mirrors out by hand, they will give. Get some silicon grease on the pivots, then lock the car, see if they then fold in and out.

...

Though I leave my mirrors in auto ie they open & close on the central locking, there's a single push button between each of the buttons used to select adjustment of each mirror.

I'd be wary of forcing them. The motor will be out of synch with the gearing and you risk breaking the frame(s).

Take the covers off whilst they are still folded in. See Youtube for exact method but it involves a flat screwdriver through a hole to release a spring clip. - Silly method as whenever the mirrors are folded, it is easy for someone to come along and steal the covers!

With the covers removed you can then lubricate the pivot(s) and possibly check for a voltage at the motor(s).

Have you checked the fuse first? No idea which one it is.

Or you could try a reset by disconnecting the battery negative briefly- again be wary as you might have to reset windows etc too
If you lube the pivots use a PTFE one, they're best....

Hi Just seen this, my R/H mirror does the same, but only when first opened after being left overnight. The rest of the day they open and close on their own.
