EQE SUV
Hi all

Ok so I'm looking at what my next luxury car , I currently have a range rover sport hybrid that I'm going to sell as soon as I know what I'm replacing it with. It's been a great car when it works and the dealership has always been amazing but I would prefer to never have a car that is so unreliable to the point I've broken down 3 times in it.

So I'm looking at the Mercedes EQE SUV as I'd like to go all electric but on my partner's request I'm also looking at the car he suggested which is the newer model Lexus RX.

I personally prefer the EQE as the interior is gorgeous especially in all white and I found both cars just as comfty to drive and the EQE has a bigger boot at 520 litres compared to the RX at 461 liters.

I know Lexus have a better reliability reputation and they have a longer 10yr Warranty but I believe from what I've read mercedes are more reliable than land rover.

Reliable to me is just as long as it doesn't break down on me and doesn't go to the dealer every month with some new issue I'd like to have the car more than the dealer.

I preferred the ride of the EQE but partner is worried about reliability so I wanted to ask what is the truth when it comes to the reliability of Mercedes especially there electric models?

Also what's the dealer network like and after sales if you need them?

Being honest, I'd go for the Lexus if its reliability and customer care you are looking for.
Mercedes is sadly lacking in comparison to Lexus.
IMO its too soon to be buying an EV. The infrastructure still isn't ready, but the range of the cars are getting better.
Hopefully an owner of an EQE can give an opinion on the car.

I’ve said it many times before, having inside info on the EV as our company owns the one one that supplies EV tech to the likes of a Porsche, Ferrari, Bugatti and the other German manufacturers. The engineers a few years ago said it’s all experimental still and as of today, we are still 8 years away from having EVs that they called viable replacements for combustion engines!

Modern cars are more style over substance and sadly not much will be better than your Range Rover. Everything is complex, built to have a short service life, be modular in repairs and encouraged to be purchased on monthly payment schemes.

As above, the only cars I’d consider spending my daughter’s inheritance on at present would be Porsche and Lexus. I will say the customer care at Lexus blows everyone else into oblivion and Lexus really make some epic cars that you need to live with before many will really appreciate them.

Just don't look at the front of them, every Lexus I've seen in the last decade has the ugliest front end you could ever design on a car!
(I use the term design loosely)

It’s marmite and I’m not a fan of it but 99% of all modern stuff is dire regardless of brand. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if I was the owner of these companies I’d shoot the designers at point blank range for the woeful eye sore crap we have today.

But, once your in a Lexus then they usually blow the opposition into oblivion so much so any styling quirks don’t matter.

My Father has just bought a Lexus NX and loves it. It is so well put together and the kit is amazing

They do come with a 10 year warranty including the battery provided you have it serviced by them
