Would that prevent the car from starting?
I thought that might be the next question - no, it will have no effect.
So you have a starting problem...
Every start, or just when it has been standing for a while (eg overnight)?
Does facing up or down a slope make any difference?
Does it initially fire up for a split second, then require lots of cranking?
Usually when it has been standing overnight, it fires for a split second then dies...
Car is a 2005 C270 showing fault code P1664.Problem is when i Kick down,so much black smoke the road cannot be seen,on normal pull away it also smokes, then as the car picks up, it will clear. Any help i would be most grateful.
Yes, using Snap On diagnostic with MB is problematic as what they show the code to be, vs what it actually is can be two different things. A number of members here have had the exact same problem, for this reason I bought myself an iCarsoft i980, others have the MBII and both have worked well (purpose-designed for MB cars).
