On my way back from Tesco's at lunch, the car either went into limp mode (or was there from starting) with the message of ESP Visit Workshop and TPS not activated. Stopped and restarted and all OK.

Just read the codes and I get;

2251-8 ESP Activated speed limit dur to ESP limp home
C1C3F - Check component N49 (Steering Angle Sensor)

So, is there anything that I can check? Sound fatal for something?

I can on demand re-create this fault by turning the steering wheel hard lock left. It's not limp mode, it's 31mph! Kind of need help some advice...

It does look as though the sensor is at fault

Where is this sensor? Behind the steering wheel and is it a DIY job? (I have removed airbags and 'things' before).

Just got a quote from the dealer at £116 +vat. Anyone got access to WIS (I think!) to get any instructions? Not having the best of weeks :(

Is the steering true as you drive down the road or offset? This will create steering angle faults!

It's straight. Not had any new tyres, not adjusted any pressures within the last few days. Well, it going to go to the garage on Tuesday. I just don't want to start replacing 'stuff' and it not to resolve the problem. Oh well :(

The bad news is it's an expensive sensor...time to check the scrap yards.

Thanks for all your advice. It was a faulty steering angle sensor (just behind the steering wheel). All good now and excellent service from Waterhouse, Braintree :)
