Planning to sell subject in the next month or two and would like to set a fair and realistic price. Its a 1989 with 134K. I have had it for 8 years and bought it with 57K. Only know bit not working is cruise control. Any ideas on fair price.

Fair price for 420SEC

A lot depends on the body.....whats yours like....have you got the common rust problem under the rear window/parcel shelf?
Secondly, what service history do you have?
Thirdly, what colour and spec have you got, ie leather or cloth, air-con? etc.
All of these factors can have a dramatic effect on the value of SEC's.
May be an idea to purchase Mercedes Enthusiast magazine to get an idea of prices or have a look on www.autotrader.co.uk to see what similar SEC's are going for.

Car is white. Not everyones favourate. Does have the common rust problem at back sill but its was treated a few years ago and is stable.
FSH from new. I have had it since 57k and always sent it to local Merc specialist.
Car has leather but no aircon. Has sunroof.

It really is hard to say.......as you acknowledge the colour will be a problem and its got the rear window rust issue, albeit its stable.....is it dry in the boot?
The real upside its got FSH and the mileage is low for the year.
Going out on a limb, I would say that if people get past the colour issue and assuming that there is no rust on the wings or any other rust for that matter, that you should be able to get @ £2000.
I saw a really really nice 420, again a 1989, no rust under window, FSH, 116K miles, blue metallic, 15 hole alloys, leather, cruise, air-con, cruise, heated seats, 12 months MOT....it was eventually sold for £4000
Not sure whether this is practical for you, but I have sold the last 5 cars of mine by having a for sale sticker in the back of the car and keeping it out on the road. It can overcome colour issues as people see the car in the flesh rather than seeing it in a photo, which never seem to do justice to white cars.
