Many things can trigger the alarm.
As @Blobcat mentions the alarm itself can fail and give erratic behaviour, otherwise try turning off the interior sensors and towaway protection to rule those areas out. Finally, if the alarm is okay, is the car suffering from low battery conditions? If your car has a battery drain somewhere this will trigger the alarm if it is too large. (I once had a unit that kept waking up on my car and this would trigger the alarm).
BTW it is possible to purchase replacement battery packs for these alarms, assuming that the old batteries haven't leaked and destroyed the PCB, it is a far quicker and cheaper fix than ordering a new alarm.
