Time to 'stock take' ...

The heater booster (W203 kettle element, attached to the engine block) has no fuse and must be physically disconnected (electrically) to stop it draining the battery.

The PTC heater (E class) has a fuse that can be removed to prevent drain.

Am I correct?

Both Alex and your good self (post #30) provided fuse assignment and locations, later verified by the OP.

Perhaps Cole has confused this with the 203 block heater?

I couldn't find the fuse so I just disconnected the red wire with F68 printed next to it. Last few times before disconnecting the wire I had real trouble jump starting the car. Today it started with a simple battery pack. Lets see tomorrow if it starts. Will keep you all posted.

Does the ML have the PTC type booster heater or the simple kettle type block heater? The fuses mentioned are for the PTC type found in the E class.
