Insurance renewal due

My insurance is up for renewal so the annual dance with the insurance companies begins!

My existing insurance company has sent me the normal " automatic renewal letter" and of course has quoted a higher amount than last year , and higher than if I renewed through the websit...so no thanks!

When I queried why this was the case its because the website is for new customers ie they penalise loyal customers with a higher premium. I was unhappy about this so I declined renewal most robustly but to be "fair" ( the insurance companies arent ) they all do it!

Apart from the hassle of renegotiating with another company who seem hell bent on selling you extra policies which I dont need, the biggest blow was the insured amount from the insureres database...guess how little my R230 2003 year car is worth?!!

They seem to be selling from about £11500, so, I dunno, £7000?

With the shenanigans that the insurance companies play, it's not surprising (although thoroughly reprehensible) that so many people elect not to bother with insurance.

I have the C270 insured with Saga for the 3+ years I've had it, each renewal comes with a price match guarantee flyer so I spend a little time on confused.com to get the cheapest "like for like" quote, then phone Saga - and they beat that price by £1! Last October it dropped the renewal by about £80, this year it dropped £60. Fully comp, 2 named drivers, £150Xs - £244pa! Plus it's fully comp if we take the car into Europe, so our booze cruises are also covered!
