An old B-Class.
My wife's GLA 250 which she has had for 5 years has the 2 litre petrol turbo engine which goes and cruises nicely. Cream leather memory seats and rides pretty well for a small car.
Stop start can easily be turned off by pressing one button.
Lesson don't buy bottom end diesel models from any manufacturer because they were just aimed at company car users trying to limit their tax liability
We have a bottom end (Renault engined) diesel. 9 years old (50k miles) and faultless.

Are we talking something like an E36 M3?.... E92 hairy chested V8 version?... or the brand spanking new turbocharged pansy-mobile version?

I need to know that before making my own judgement, as to me that are very different cars.... :D

Definitely a V8, I would like to buy it for Mrs. '63 as a replacement for her 320d, de-badge it, and she'd be none the wiser. It's a dream, we can all have them.

I'll buck the trend here and state I love the way Mercedes are designing their cars. The 213 E class interior in particular makes the 210/211 and even the 212 look positively ancient IMO. I'm old grunter status and just love the interior of these two E63's. You can keep the old stuff, I'll take the modern.

Just to state the what appears to me stating the bleeding obvious but................
The last few decades have increasingly put control of money and wealth, and where its spent in the hands of women. Car manufacturers have inevitably proportionally directed more of the appeal of their products to that growing demography. They'd have been stupid not to. But alas what pleases lasses doesn't necessarily please the lads!

My son had the (IIRC) 2019 E53 - had a few rides with him & couldn’t get used to that interior. Call me old fashined, I prefer the old school interiors with out all the unneeded bling that I’d only play with for the first week and never look at again. I had considered buying his E53 after it was 3 years old (last year) - good deal at what the buyers offered him but it didn’t quite float my boat. 93241DAC-D003-4786-B016-15F54F823FCC.jpeg IMG_1810 2.JPG

It goes to show there is no one answer to please all. I’d say I’m young compared to some fellow members, within the target range for these designs, and yet I sound like victor meldrew!

The R231 interior is a lovely place to be, IMHO.

Yep, see that is fine in the sense you don’t step in and think wtf is going on in here. Just what you need, where you need it. I like the new 911 interior as well, it looks like a car interior rather than an eyesore cocktail bar.

On the r231 I liked the thoughtful centre storage, very well thought out, the seats so do the job, what a fabulous to place to put a clock, the seat movement button by the seat belt, that’s people doing things well. The only thing I didn’t like was the plastics on the centre console, their air vents not being genuine metal, as shown in Rory’s post, and the plastics stuck on the exterior. Fine on an a-class or an Astra you are going to sell to the masses but not fine on what it classed as a luxury car.

Air vents on mine are aluminium, they go ice cold when the aircon is on. Centre console is all aluminium or leather. Maybe it's an AMG thing.

My R231 SL500 has metal air vents and maple wood instead of plastic in front of the centre console. It is pre face lift though so could be that or the AMG line styling.....
