and discovered it had done 430 miles in the last twelve months! ****** expensive way of having a convertable...

Mind you, for the third year in succession in my ownership, it passed without so much as an advisory, which is good, isn't it?

But on the other hand, had to buy two gallons of Mobil 1 0/40 oil to supply to the garage (Halfords have it on offer, £35 a gallon!) as that is what it has always been run on, and the bill was still £359!

While in there, some guy came in and was drooling over the old girl ( the car, not the wife!) and offered me copious amounts of money for her. I said "No" but now, I'm wondering if, when insurance, tax, mot and servicing are taken into account, it would be better to have taken his cash and just hire a car for the three days a year I actually use a rag-top?

If it had only done 430 miles why did you change the oil?

Some people say it should be changed yearly regardless. Other thing is if you come to sell the car people may be wary if they see missing stamps as most people think a car should be serviced yearly regardless.

I will have the same issue this year. Due to being ill the car hasnt done much mileage since its B service last summer. I only recently started driving again regularly. So do I get an A service done this year with the MOT so it has an oil change and service stamp or leave it?

It's actually been out twice this year already, both times, roof off. Once in February!!!!! It was a beautiful warm day and the temp was above 10 degrees so the roof could come off safely, so it did.

I don't like driving converts with the roof on, it just feels "wrong!"

Re the service/oil change. I like the oil changing yearly as not using it much is pretty bad for it, and I fear contamination from fuel and moisture, especially as I tend to start it every couple of weeks while it's in the garage, and, even though I run it up to temp, still bound to get some condensation in the engine. As it has a full (not all MB ) service history, it's also important (to me) to keep it up. Always been run on Mobil 1 so it could probably run for years on the same oil with no damage, but...

Also Halfords had a wicked deal on the stuff, actually cost me less for the oil than I paid three years ago - pretty good I thought.

Really ? Where have you been living ?

Stockport. No rain for weeks and apart from the snow last weekend it's been lovely and sunny, but dam cold. And sunny for the next week as well.

If last year is anything to go by these few weeks will be our summer.

I'm in Rossendale (so not so far away) and it's true - I work out in Gibraltar quite a bit and there has been a lot more rain there this year than there has at home (and it's famous for rain at home!)
